HOLY FLAMINGO

I had only planned on putting up a quick OOTD post tonight.  Checked into Anthro.com just for a peek and OH. MY. GOODNESS.

I don't believe I've shared this important little piece of my life here, but I have a slight obsession with flamingos.  In my sorority in college, I was part of the Flamingo Family.  Here, the love begin.  It grew into SO MUCH MORE than just liking the crazy pink birds.  It became a full on obsession.  Each and every friend/family member could easily gift me some type of flamingo paraphernalia for any holiday, and you'd see a happy Kim.

Here's the logic.  Flamingos are crazy. And bright. And beautiful. And so incredibly unique.  And that's me.  And that's my sorority little sister, Heather... the one I adore, and love more than life.  (If you pay very close attention, you'll notice her commenting frequently on here- thanks little).

And look what I found at my little piece of heaven, inspiring this several-paragraph long tribute to flamingos....

Done, and done.  No xs left online, but you better believe I'll be calling every store in the Continental US until I find this.

And now, a further fawning over my little one and flam lovin....

The day my precious one got initiated into our sorority.
Big day for her, but just as big for me... becoming
her big sister!!

OOTD: a quickie

Hi ladies!  Not too much time tonight, but have a few OOTD's around here waiting to be posted!

Easy work outfit.  Had this color combo I wanted to wear, but didn't know how I was going to pair it.  Wake up late for work... navy dress? Easy. Cardi? Easy. Belt it, and done.

I really need to start getting up when my alarm goes off...

Dress: Banana Republic (2009 or 2010?)
Cardigan: J Crew Jacki Cardi
Belt: Nordstrom BP

Oh my goodness, please excuse this awful dot on the second picture.  I think it's time to clean the lens!!

Hope you all are having a great week!

Kim

oh, maxi dear

I simply could not wait to wear this dress.  Or this necklace.  Hubs bought the necklace for me as one of my many, beautiful wedding day gifts, and he insisted I get this dress as my 'one and only new, must have dress' for our 'one and only, must have honeymoon'.  This dress just fits so beautifully.  Can't wait to wear many more times in the very near future!
Dress: Anthro's Chroma Reflections Maxi
Necklace: Anthro
(not online anymore! can't find name but WILL keep searching!)

Oooh... another fun fact about this weekend.  We took hubby's one and only OOTD shot.  He couldn't wait.  And by couldn't wait, I mean I made him.  Dear husband of mine, you are so rediculously handsome.

maillot please

Happy Thursday lovelies!  So happy to be home to start the weekend!  Just cooked dinner for the hubs and we have an entirely thrilling night planned.  Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning until The Office comes on. Goodbye, Michael Scott.  Oh my goodness, I know I'll be crying!

I ordered 4 bathing suits from Anthro prior to the honeymoon.  Was dying for a one piece this year.  Two stayed with me and made the cut.  The Elephant Ears Maillot and the Sea Anemone Maillot.  Both were incredible!

Mine and hubby's fav was the Elephant Maillot.  I honestly ordered this on a whim.  Loved the idea of it, but hated it on the model online!  The ruffle piece cut so short on her and made her look frumpy and short!  SO not the look I was going for.  Decided to try regardless, and THANK GOODNESS!  It appears so much different in person than on the model.  Longer ruffles, perfect moss color, utter perfection for a one piece.

The Sea Anemone was a favorite too, and I just couldn't bear to part with it.  So, it was a keeper too!  It looks SO retro.  Love, love, love.

What do you ladies think?  Ever ordered a suit from Anthro?  Pricey, I know.  But for the amount of use I'll be getting out of them... well worth the extra cash.

Happy weekend ladies!

the ban is officially over

Hello my lovely ladies.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!  Friday is my day off, so I am desperately looking forward to tomorrow.... my Friday!

In the weeks/months leading up to the wedding, I embarked on a self imposed shopping ban.  I didn't make a trip into Anthro (or any other store for that matter) for weeks and weeks, knowing if I went 'looking' it was all over.  I did make the exception for a couple necessities for the honeymoon.  I bought two new Anthro bathing suits (which are AMAZING...reviews to come) and a full price maxi, insisted upon by the husband.  In his words "we're only having one honeymoon and you know you deserve it!" Yes, dear!  I'll follow that advice :)

After a couple very long months of staying out of the store, staying off the website, and avoiding all blog posts  revealing new sale items, I am SO happy this so-called 'shopping ban' is officially over.

I spent yesterday morning on the website.  Made some calls.  Found some highly coveted items.  Made a trip with hubs to Anthro last night.  Bought a full-priced outfit I couldn't resist.

And guess what?  I can't wait to mix up some new spring/summer clothes.

Have you let yourself splurge at all this season?  Or have you all been good little savers?

K

Look out Mompos....

The Mompos Dress is making the rounds as the possible favorite of the season.  But, like always, get ready for this dress to disappear quickly!  For those of you that aren't Gleeks (those that love 'Glee'), there is a massive amount of beautiful Anthro items displayed weekly.  Dianna Agron, playing Quinn, is dressed in at least one Anthropologie dress a week.  Even if you're not up for the music or the comedy, it's worth watching just to see some of your favorite apparel on the big screen!

Anywhooo... just saw a sneak peak picture on Gleehab.com, and guess what Ms. Agron will be wearing?! The highly coveted Mompos of course.  Get ready for this dress to sell, and sell quickly.

free perks

Our resort was fantastic for a number of reasons, but one of the best things was all the 'honeymoon' perks.  A ton of other resorts we looked at offered the special Honeymoon Packages... inclusive of special dinner, champagne on arrival, and so on and so on.  Sounds great, no?  Yes! However, all these resorts would charge something close to an extra thousand dollars a week!  YES, I said $1K. Ca-raziness.  Hunny and I decided we did NOT need to spend extra money for people to remind us that we were on our honeymoon.  We were fairly certain we'd remember.  Here's hoping, no?

Anyway, much to our surprise, we were notified of many honeymoon-related perks, already included.  'Honeymooners' door banner sweetly awaiting us on our door.  Rose petals all over the room.  Iced champagne next to the bed with fresh fruit.  Breakfast in bed to be set up any day we chose.  And a Honeymooners dinner in the restaurant of our choosing.  Special seats on the water, specialized menu, and a gorgeous table display.  LOVE!

So... here's pics from our special honeymooners dinner night.  I'm not one for re-wearing dresses for occasions when I can help it.  I decided ahead of time that this trip would be the exception.  Bought this dress for a girlfriend's wedding last spring.  Loved the dress entirely too much not to wear again for something special!!

Oh hey, husband.

And here, documented for you all, is the face I make when ever so sweetly reminding my hubs that "you're stuck with me forever...see??"

Happy almost weekend!
